Brave 8-year-old boy finds a friend in NBA star Stephen Curry during his cancer journey

Unfortunately, an eight-year-old boy from Indiana named Brody Stephens has died due to a virus. He was very brave while fighting leukemia and made friends with famous athletes like Stephen Curry. Brody has been fighting acute myeloid leukemia since he was a baby. He beat the disease the first time, but it came back in 2015. The Indianapolis Star heard this terrible news from his father, Jason Stephens.

It brought Brody a lot of happiness to be friends with Stephen Curry, his favorite basketball player and member of the Golden State Warriors. In November, Curry went to see Brody in the hospital, and the two of them quickly became friends. During their hour-long meeting, Curry shared times with Brody that will stay with him. Some of Brody’s stars came to see him along the way. Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, tight end Jack Doyle, and coach Chuck Pagano were some of them. These days, the Golden State Warriors even flew him to California to be their ball boy, watch their shootaround, and be a part of Coach Steve Kerr’s pre-game press conference. Bryant Stephens’s dad, Jason Stephens, said his son was a unique kid who impressed everyone he met.

What a sweet turn of events! Brody had no idea that his sports hero was going to visit him because he had already set up all of his Curry items in his room like he always did.

Many people were amazed and happy when a video of Brody and his dad, Jason, playing a basketball in a hospital hallway went viral. Curry told Brody and his family how thankful he was to have met them and spent time with them over the past few months. A radio DJ named Dan Dakich tweeted about Brody, which got the attention of the Warriors’ team. The group planned a surprise visit to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in November. Curry signed all of Brody’s NBA trading cards and his favorite shirt, number 30, while they were there. The event was a welcome break for Brody, who had already been through a lot in his short life. Everyone there, including Brody’s family and the nurses who were helping, could forget about their problems for a while and enjoy the moment.

Curry told Brody how much he appreciated meeting him and spending time with him. He admitted that his part was easy—all he had to do was show up and get to know Brody while trying to make memories that would last. Curry wore black and orange BrodyStrong rings to his games. Along with making friends with Glenn Robinson III, Brody also got a letter from LeBron James. During the playoffs, the Warriors have chosen to remember Brody. Jason, Brody’s dad, made it clear that his son didn’t die of leukemia but from a virus-related problem. He made it clear that Brody will always have a perfect score against leukemia, with two wins and no losses.
