Ratched was a highly-anticipated release from Netflix. First, it comes from a prolific director, writer and producer Ryan Murphy. The man behind such hit shows as American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and Glee.
Not surprisingly, he chose Sarah Paulson to play the lead character of Nurse Mildred Ratched, as Paulson stars in both of his FX anthology series. Secondly, Ratched is based on a popular and dark character from the 1975 hit movie starring Jack Nicholson, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. In the movie, Nurse Ratched was played by Louise Fletcher.
It’s shocking, but critics and viewers strongly disagree on Season 1 of Ratched: on Rotten Tomatoes viewers praised the show for being stylish, visually beautiful, suspenseful and dark, giving it an 83% approval rating; while critics bombed the show, branding it a “lower quality American Horror Story” and rating it at disappointing 59%.
The cast of Season 2 of Ratched is yet to be confirmed, but we do know who WON’T be in it: Jon Jon Briones, Charlie Carver, Sharon Stone and Alice Englert.
Their characters met their maker in the first season. The Season 1 finale was the perfect set up for Season 2, as Ratched and her brother Edmund become enemies for life. Will Edmund succeed in his revenge?
